Our methodology

Editorial Review Policy

How we assess UK-facing online casino operators, what each criterion means, and what our scores represent.

Our approach

Every operator reviewed on PlayPicksDaily is assessed against eight documented criteria. The same framework is applied to each operator regardless of our commercial arrangement with them. Scores are assigned on a 0-10 scale based on how well the operator performs across each dimension.

Our editorial scores are not official ratings, regulatory assessments, or endorsements. They are independent editorial judgements based on publicly available information reviewed at the time of assessment. They do not constitute advice to register with any particular operator.

Scores may be revised if we become aware of material changes to an operator's terms, platform, or responsible gambling practices. Where significant changes occur, we note the revision date on the relevant review.

Our eight review criteria

01

Licencing

We verify that the operator holds a valid UK Gambling Commission licence. This is a prerequisite for any brand to appear on this site. We do not list unlicensed operators.

02

Offer clarity

We review how clearly bonus terms — including wagering requirements, expiry periods, and eligible games — are communicated at opt-in. Clear, accessible terms score better than buried or ambiguous conditions.

03

Site usability

We assess the overall navigation, lobby organisation, and account functionality of the operator website. Ease of finding games, terms, and support channels all factor into this assessment.

04

Payment options

We document available deposit and withdrawal methods, typical processing times, and any notable restrictions. A broader, faster payment suite scores better than a limited or slow one.

05

Game variety

We review the depth and breadth of the game catalogue, including software providers, slot count, live casino rooms, and table game variants. We do not count raw totals — provider quality and catalogue organisation also matter.

06

Mobile experience

We test the operator on mobile browsers and note whether a dedicated app is available. Performance, layout, and feature parity with the desktop site are all assessed.

07

Terms transparency

Beyond bonus terms, we review the overall clarity of withdrawal conditions, verification requirements, and account policies. Operators that communicate these clearly and consistently score better.

08

Responsible gambling visibility

We check how accessible responsible gambling tools — deposit limits, session limits, self-exclusion, and support links — are within the account interface. Tools that require extensive navigation to locate score lower than those surfaced prominently.

What our scores do not represent

Our scores are editorial comparison tools, not guarantees. A higher score does not mean an operator will approve a particular player's registration, will process a particular withdrawal, or will provide a better experience for every individual player. Individual outcomes vary based on personal circumstances and operator decisions.

Scores are also not derived from customer reviews or aggregated user ratings. They are the assessment of our review process only. We do not fabricate review counts or use invented user testimonials.
